A Conceptual Approach to
Music Readiness |

|
| |
|
|
Aural
Sensitivity
Developing the
"Musical Ear" is our most important goal. Early class work
includes discrimination between high and low, loud and soft, fast and
slow, major and minor.
|
|
Motor
& Rhythmic Skills
Moving to music that
marches, runs, skips, skates, moves slowly, and tiptoes. Clapping and
playing rhythm instruments helps your child respond to rhythm patterns.
|
|
Notational
Awareness
Children delight in
learning to recognize written musical symbols such as notes, clefs,
staff, etc. Directional (left to right) reading is emphasized.
|
|
Keyboard
Facility
Children
become familiar with the keyboard by enjoying finger games, rote songs,
and pre-reading songs. They learn to locate keyboard areas through
visual and tactile patterns of 2 and 3 black keys and high, middle, low
concepts.
